Oh I sometimes wish I was more savvy professional and less quirky and outspoken freespirit. First draft of my feedback analysis report had some of my editorialising on an unnamed GP I christened ‘Dr Grumpy’. This was only a first draft, typed up pretty much as I analysed the feedback and should have been finetuned. Of course, I forgot to edit the report and remove said editorialising before I sent it to two colleagues. Sooo glad they have a sense of humour!

Reputation

Mine seems to be one I can totally live with! After the episode a couple of weeks ago when a colleague mentioned they knew what causes I would fundraise for before I said it, there was an amusing moment today. My boss and I have a meeting scheduled with a rep from a furniture company about options for our new office. She isn’t feeling too well and I suggested she head home sick. She laughed and retorted that there was no way she was letting me choose the furniture as ‘we’ll only end up with some Greenpeace, wicker, save the planet, recycled stuff’. I had to laugh! I am really pretty delighted to have reputation as an ecologically sound, socially conscious person! Also as someone who my boss is adamant will never dog-sit for her as she knows I’d have her two gorgeous dogs spoiled rotten by the time she got back!

Organisation

I’ve never really been one to take things lying down. We are running two big conferences this month - one was two weeks ago in Belfast and the other is this week in Lisburn. A number of people didn’t turn up to the Belfast course despite booking a place. I am going to take the name badges and folders I prepared for them to Lisburn just in case. I’m not preparing another batch of certificates of attendance only for them to be wasted again. Of course, if they do turn up on the wrong day, I’m really not in the mood to put up with any attitude from a load of GPs so I’m also bringing their original booking forms PROVING they booked Belfast. I am going to be so well prepared…I hope!

With two conferences, visits to GP practices, the start of a distance learning course we set up for GPs and nurses, not to mention all the normal every day stuff that needs done, I will be SO glad when May is over!!!

Love it

We were talking about fundraising for our diabetes fund in work and someone suggested bag packing. I was asked if I would ever do that and said I would but was more likely to do it in support of Haiti or to fight human trafficking. I was delighted when a workmate said ‘I knew she was going to say that!’ They know the issues close to my heart :)

I did of course say I’d certainly do bag packing with the team in aid of diabetes if it was organised!

Negative feedback

We ran an event last week that took MONTHS of planning. Hearing negative feedback about it was quite upsetting. Upon reading further down this person’s feedback form and seeing that he/she was only there to fulfil appraisal requirements makes me think they were inclined to negativity from the start because they were there for the wrong reasons. The suggestions they made showed they missed the entire point of the event (delivering education TO a group of people sort of rules out them GIVING the education you twit). All that sort of eases the sting of their negativity!
